Description:
Here is the second of four photos from the "Long Island Rail Road" series. Photo Caption: "It was 1903 when Brooks delivered this brand-new Camelback type passenger locomotive. These steamers, specially designed for commuter service, were used for some 20 or more years before being replaced by heavier power as trains grew longer." Shown here is LIRR engine #126, a 4-6-0 "Camelback" built by the American Locomotive Company during 1903. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded. John S.
