Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in September of 1954. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9535, an unidentified B-unit, and #9530. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9535 was constructed in September of 1948 and retired in December of 1966. #9530 was also built in September of 1948, but was renumbered "1403" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. Kern. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred R. Kern that was taken near Cove, Pennsylvania, on 17 October 1960. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9535 and two more "EF" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9535 is an EF-15 constructed in September of 1948 and retired in December of 1966 after just 18 years of service. In this context, they're heading West to Altoona. ("PrrFan18n") |
