Description:  Kern. Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 5849." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "A passenger train, with E-7 5849 up front, heads west after crossing the Rockville Bridge into Marysville, Pa. A freight is ready to cross the stone arch bridge and continue east. Enola, location of the large Pennsy yard, is a short distance to the right of the photo. October 20, 1957." Photo by Fred R. Kern. Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5849 is an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in August of 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. The eastbound freight train is headed by PRR engine #9662, an EF-15A built by GM-EMD in February of 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower.

Description:  17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 10 July 1965. Shown here are the Locomotive Ready Tracks below the 17th Street Bridge; many makes and models are represented. Of the 40 or so locomotives visible, the following are identifiable by number. Starting from the right are PRR engines #7118, #7124, #9662, #6302, and #6308. #7118 and #7124 are EFS-17M's built by EMD in 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #9662 is an EF-15A built by EMD in 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. #6302 and #6308 are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each.
