| New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal SW8 No. 3 was at the terminal's car shop, having just been repainted from blue-and-orange into Amtrak colors, but not yet lettered. This was one of three SW8's - Nos. 1-3 - built in December 1953 for use at the new terminal. No. 2 was sold around 1960, but Nos. 1 and 3 survived into the Amtrak era. Both were repainted into Amtrak colors, and were sold to NASA in 1990. |
