Here is a beautiful example of a Lima 2-8-4 Bershire built in 8/1944 as Nickel Plate Road #763. After retirement, it was put on display for awhile at Wasena Park in Roanoke, VA. In 1976, it was a contender for the motive power for the American Freedom Train but was not chosen. It returned to Roanok to the Virginia Museum of Transportation. The loco was eventually sold to Jerry Jacobson for his Age of Steam Roundhouse collection. Currently, it is awaiting restortation. An unknown photographer took the photo. |
