Description:  This loco was built by GE in November of 1971 as Penn Central U23C #6709. When Penn Central collapsed it moved over to the Conrail roster as CR 6705 but later renumbered CR 6909. The loco was on the 1995 roster as CR 6909 but no current disposition was found. This long distance telephoto shot was taken by Conrail conductor Ken Taylor.

Description:  The yard engines in the various hump yard on the Conrail system were medium horsepower six axle units, either U23Cs or SD 38s, which had good adhesion, but didnt need a lot of raw power. At Selkirk, where most of the GE power was assigned(Selkirk was known as the GE captial of the world for a time) this meant U23Cs. We see one working as trim unit in the eastbound bowl.
