The track is the former Elgin, Joliet and Eastern mainline that once only carried EJE trains - now foreign power of all kinds use the tracks since CN purchased the "J" in 2009.

Description:  A CN local crosses Stroebe Rd. as it heads northeast via former C&NW rails at Stroebe, WI, on 24 Jun. '21. Local was headed for Appleton, Little Chute, and Kaukauna. Stroebe is a railroad station in Fox Crossing, Winnebago Co., WI (formerly Town of Menasha, Winnebago Co., WI, from 1855 until 14 Apr. 2016 (not Outagamie Co., where Stroebe was erroneously placed on this site)). The former SOO rails, also in use by CN, run parallel in the background. The Great Northern Corp. facility is partially visible in the background. They have a spur, but have not received rail service for quite a while. The turnout connecting their spur to the main line was torn out last year.

Description:  In the foreground on the right, IC 9612 is moving hoppers. A couple tracks east are GTW 4921 and three Wisconsin & Southern locomotives. The one immediately behind GTW 4921 is WAMX 4182 and one of the two others is WAMX 4192. I was unable to catch the number of the third. All three locomotives were being worked on, although I am not sure why they are up here in Neenah. Perhaps in preparation for Watco's Fox Valley and Lake Superior system? On the very far track is an old Wisconsin Central (ex-MILW) caboose - WC 16.

Description:  GTW 4921 throws a little smoke as it emerges from U.S. Paper Mills Corp., 69 Washington St., Menasha, WI, on 15 Oct. '22. This mill began production in 1891 as the John Strange Paper Co. (it was built on the former site of the John Strange Tub & Pail Factory). It was purchased by Menasha Corp. in 1969 and renamed John Strange Paperboard Div. It was sold to U.S. Papers Corp. in 1981. It was sold to Sonoco ca. 2002.

Description:  A CN local parallels Ehlers Rd. and approaches Towmen Rd. at Shawano Junction, Fox Crossing, WI, on 6 Nov. '22 Local was headed for Appleton, Little Chute and Kaukauna, and is transitioning from the former SOO rails to the former C&NW rails. This spot used to be named Fox River Junction, after several segments of the original C&NW main line through Menasha and Neenah were removed and a turnout was installed here which allows the bypass of missing C&NW rails by using former SOO rails.
