The "Spirit of Kamloops" preparing to board passengers.  Only 263 miles to Vancouver!  We shall travel but 3 1/2 miles to the CN mainline and back, nevertheless a most enjoyable journey and extremely well presented by the volunteer staff.

Description:  Waiting for the approaching yardman, the engineer waits expectantly at the cab window. This 1912 Canadian Locomotive Company Consolidation-type locomotive looks sharp on this cold February day in Canada. The M-5-a class loco could produce a respectable 40,420 lb tractive effort. Note on the back by photographer Mendel Greenblatt states "Works at Campbellton", which is some 300 km away.

Description:  Built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in 1913 as Intercolonial Railway of Canada (IRC) #272. It was sold to the Canadian Govenment Railways (CGR) in 1916 and became CGR #272. In 1919 after the railroad mergers, it was renumbered CN 2340. It met the scrapper's torch in February of 1956. Ray Deshenes photo. No date or location was given fthe photo.

Description:  Built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in 1913-14 as CGR #279 (serial #1205), the locomotive was absorbed into the new Canadian National in 1919 and renumbered CN 2347. It stayed on the active roster until being scrapped in April of 1959 after nearly 46 years of service. Scrapped 4/1959 Specs - 63" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 24x32" cylinders, engine weight of 231,800 lb, tractive effort of 44,763 lb. No photographer or exact date was given for the photo.
