Album Info:Canadian Pacific Freight Main (ex-Delaware & Hudson Rwy.) CPF 557 - West Oneonta, NY to CPF 524.8 - Richmondville, NY 28 June 2013 UP ZDLSK / CSX L090 Produce Train a/k/a "Salad Bowl Express" UP #5433 [GE C45ACCTE] UP #7513 [GE C45ACCTE] UP #7844 [GE C45ACCTE] UP ZDLSK / CSX L090 is a regularly scheduled high priority unit train of perishables, departing Delfar (Delano and McFarland), California , CA (Delfar is on the UP Fresno Subdivision, 28 +/- miles north of Bakersfield,CA). The trains destination is the RailEx produce distribution facility in Rotterdam, NY. ( www.railexusa.com/site/northeast-region.html ) On 27 June 2013, a collision & derailment at CSX Fonda Yard / Mohawk Subdivision QCCP 188, blocked its normal route and due to its perishable status, this train had to be detoured around the affected area. The detour took the train via the New York Susquehanna & Western Railway "Syracuse Main" from Syracuse, NY to Binghamton, NY; and then from Binghamton, NY to Albany, NY via the Canadian Pacific Freight Main. Once in Albany, the L090 can backtrack the few miles to its destination via CSX Albany Division / Selkirk Subdivision to the RailEx Facility in Rotterdam, NY. What is special about the detour, is that it is very rare to see foreign road power (Union Pacific in this case) on the Canadian Pacific Freight Main (where 99% of the time, only Canadian Pacific, Norfolk Southern or Delaware & Hudson livery is seen) Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jMc6JVQcH0 Special thanks goes to Jim Cerulli for posting the reroute information and to Joe O'Mara, page owner of the Delaware & Hudson D&H/CP Railway Facebook group for sharing the reroute announcement info.
