Album Info:On June 29 and June 30, 1974, photographer Ralph L. Phillips took a series of photos of a welded rail train destined for what is now Fenway Station in Boston. The series gives us a look at the transition of the former Highland branch to the MBTA Green Line's D branch.

'D' Branch under construction

Description:  The end of the B&M welded rail train is seen from the Park Drive bridge, looking southwest, at the site of the future Fenway station. To the right of the photo is the new ROW that will make up the MBTA Green Line's 'D' Branch. The Highland Branch connection the welded rail train sits on will become a MOW siding extending to just before the bridge when this work is complete.
